The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 is a high-end desktop graphics card based on the Blackwell architecture. It launched on 30 January 2025 at $999 in the United States and £979 in the United Kingdom, positioning it below the flagship RTX 5090 and above the RTX 5070 Ti.

This is a canonical Product record for the standalone GPU. Specifications below describe NVIDIA’s Founders Edition or reference implementation unless stated otherwise. Partner cards can use different clocks, coolers, dimensions, power limits and prices.

Gaming and platform features

The RTX 5080 supports the full DLSS 4 feature set, including Super Resolution, DLAA, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation in compatible games. It also supports NVIDIA Reflex, DirectX 12 Ultimate, Vulkan 1.4, OpenGL 4.6, Resizable BAR, G-SYNC, Game Ready drivers and Studio drivers.

Its two ninth-generation NVENC encoders and two sixth-generation NVDEC decoders support AV1 encode and decode. This makes the card relevant to video editing, streaming and creator workflows as well as 4K gaming. Sixteen gigabytes of VRAM is ample for most current games, although very large rendering projects and local AI models can require more.

Power, size and installation

NVIDIA rates total graphics power at 360 W and lists 850 W required system power for a reference system built around a Ryzen 9 9950X. The correct supply depends on the whole PC. The Founders Edition can use three separate PCIe eight-pin leads through the supplied adapter or one compatible 450 W-or-greater PCIe Gen 5 cable.

The Founders Edition reference specification is 304 mm long, 137 mm wide and two slots thick. NVIDIA recommends reserving extra expansion-slot space for airflow and roughly 36 mm of additional cable clearance. Many partner cards are larger, so check the exact model and measure the case before purchase.

Display support

Three DisplayPort 2.1b connections and one HDMI 2.1b connection support as many as four displays. With suitable displays, cables and Display Stream Compression, NVIDIA lists configurations up to 4K at 480 Hz or 8K at 165 Hz. Available combinations depend on total connection bandwidth.

UK and US pricing

The Founders Edition launched at $999 US and £979 UK. Those figures are comparison references rather than guaranteed current prices. Retail availability, currency changes and partner-card premiums can move actual checkout prices considerably. Any retailer offer displayed on this Product page should identify its country, currency, exact card model and last-checked time.
